Serena & Cliff | Crystal Springs & CuriOdyssey Wedding Videography

It was a fun day filled with sly Star Wars references set against beautiful California backdrops. Serena and Cliff share a love (some might call it an obsession) for Star Wars. Their dogs are named R2D2 and Leia. All the groomsmen wore Stormtrooper socks under their dapper gray suits. They even had a little light saber fight with their wedding party while we were hanging out in the woods. Star Wars aside, we all got to see how the couple’s love blossomed for each other, with a hilarious and heartfelt video of Cliff’s elaborate adventure-scavenger-hunt proposal for Serena and his surprise performance as he serenaded Serena with his groomsmen backing him up. A truly special day as these two embark on their next epic saga together.

Rebecca & Dave | Monterey Beach Wedding Videography

All throughout Friday and up until the morning of the wedding, dark clouds doused the area with a hearty bout of rain– much-needed for the drought-ridden state of California, but much-dreaded for Rebecca and Dave’s dreams of a wedding on the beach. We were all ready to be good sports about it all. The wedding would be perfect, rain or not. But with a stroke of good luck (or was it a favor called in by Dave’s Episcopal-priest-mother?) the rain stopped, as if on cue, right around noon. As the girls were getting ready, we looked out from the balcony and could see the rows of white chairs being set out on the beach in the distance. They would get their outdoor beach wedding after all. And yes, it was perfect.

Katherine & Josh | Los Altos History Museum | Bay Area Wedding Videography

Katherine and Josh met when they were both in post-bac programs for medical school in Boston. They went to medical schools an hour apart, but afterwards both matched with the same intern program here in California. Nowadays when they’re not busy saving lives, their free time revolves around their little corgi pup Scout, who had a nice little guest star role at the wedding.

Best of 2012

2012 has been a beautiful year for us. We’ve focused a lot on honing our craft and becoming even better storytellers through our cinematic medium. Here are just a handful of the wonderful highlights of our year!

1. We have now been featured five times by Style Me Pretty!

2. We filmed eight weddings this year, each of them unique and beautiful:

Cat & Dan, Santa Monica, California
Elisa & Brendan, San Francisco, California
Anny & John, Woodside, California
Becky & David, Walnut Creek, California
Olivia & Dan, Napa, California
Kristina & Ian, Sea Ranch, California
Sun & Elliot, Evanston, Illinois

3. Of our weddings this year, the most popular was Becky and David’s creative California ranch wedding:

4. We also filmed, edited, and appeared in our first personal video that we’ve shared– our Second Thanksgiving celebration with our friends in Los Angeles:

5. And finally, we made a bunch of “invisible” behind the scenes upgrades, such as incorporating and becoming an LLC, moving web servers, upgrading our vimeo account, purchasing new gear, and more!

Thank you to all of our 2012 couples for a fantastic year. We’re looking forward to growing, learning, laughing, and sharing more in 2013!

Gotta Snag You | Sun & Elliot | Alice Millar Chapel, Evanston, Illinois

Their story starts with high school prom, but after that, Sun and Elliot went their separate ways and didn’t see or speak to each other for years. They had another chance encounter when they both attended a wedding, but it was still not their time.

It wasn’t until a few more years later, when Sun was in Chicago and Elliot had just moved to San Francisco, that they finally started their relationship. But as if long distance across half the country was not enough, they then had to take their relationship across the ocean. Sun asked Elliot, You know I’m going to Vietnam for a year…? and yes, he knew. In truth, he knew. They already had one too many missed connections, and he wasn’t about to let her slip by. Within the first few months, he had already planned out the next couple years– she goes to Vietnam, he visits, and they travel to Korea together in the next winter to visit her parents, he proposes, she moves to San Francisco the next summer, and then they get married.

And that’s exactly how the story unfolded. On a beautiful day in Evanston, Illinois, they were wed!
